Student Evaluation
The Colorado Search and Rescue Association's CalTopo course has two main objectives:
- By the end of this course, students will be able to utilize CalTopo skills in mapping of a search and/or rescue incident.
- By the end of this course, students will demonstrate an understanding of the CSAR Best Practices for CalTopo mapping.
This is a self-paced course offered exclusively through the CSAR Learning Management System.

CalTopo Primer
Like drinking from a firehose, it's a ton of information and details to learn and apply. It took me over a dozen hours to complete all of the assignments. But after exhaustive effort, correction, and refinement I'm fairly confident I can put together usable maps that are appropriate and concisely informative. I'm sure more practice and experience will improve my skills and presentation. But I'm ready to tackle future challenges with a consistent framework and understanding of SAR terminology and best practices.

Intermittently smooth and intuitive
Felt like the discrepancy between caltopo versions wasnt always ideal but also made for a more engaging experience than just direct copying of actions
