CSAR Basic Search Management (BSM) - Spring 2026

This class is designed for experienced search and rescue members preparing for search leadership roles and focuses on managing the first operational period of a search. 

Class Dates are: 

• March 26th: Virtual, 1800 - 2100. 
• April 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th: Virtual, 1800 - 2100. 
• May 7th: Virtual, 1800 - 2100.
• May 9th and 10th: In Person, Location TBD

Prerequisites: 

• Access to a laptop computer with video and audio capability. A desktop computer may be used for the evening sessions, but a laptop is necessary for the practicum weekend. 
• An internet connection that allows for video conferencing with your camera on. 
• The Lost Person Behavior app or textbook (app is preferred by the instructors). 
• Completion of the CSAR CalTopo Course (for this session, completion of CalTopo's own course will be accepted in lieu). 
• Review of ICS 100/200/700/800 is strongly recommended.
